Power Went Out
Friendly hugs, taken by the virus.
Intimacy driven out by maternity.
Feeling alone and unwanted;
My biggest organ failing.
The crowds pressed in on every side;
Did it make you feel trapped?
Social propriety was never your concern;
Was the Son of Man a hugger?
I keep people at arm's length
But yearn to pull them in close.
Can you hold me tight enough
To force the broken pieces back together?
